India records 43,846 new COVID-19 cases in last 24 hours, highest single day spike this year.

The daily rise in infections was the highest recorded in 115 days. The death toll increased to 1,59,755 with 197 daily new fatalities, the highest in 97 days, the data updated at 8 am showed.As many as 44,489 new infections were recorded in a span of 24 hours on November 26.
As India witnessed the highest daily tally of COVID-19 cases this year, the Union Health Ministry said on Sunday that Maharashtra, Kerala, Punjab, Karnataka, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh account for 83.14 per cent of the new infections.

Preventive health care is the essential component of the services delivered through HWCs. The identified individuals with the chronic conditions are put on treatment with necessary follow-up. So far, 9.1 crore screenings for hypertension, 7.4 crore screenings for diabetes, 4.7 crore screenings for oral cancer, 2.4 crore screenings for breast cancer and 1.7 crore screenings for cervical cancer in women have been done, the ministry highlighted.

CAIT alleges violation of Drugs & Cosmetics Act by e-pharmacies

The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) wrote to Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, Health Minister Harshvardhan and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on the issue.

“It is important to note that sale of prescription drugs and medicines through online medium is illegal. The legal regime, under the Drugs & Cosmetics Act, 1940, does not permit home delivery of prescription medicines for which a prescription “in original” is required,” CAIT said in the letter to Goyal sent on Friday.

Worrying decline in health of Gen X, Y in US: Study

The researchers showed that compared to previous generations, members of Generation X and Generation Y showed poorer physical health, higher levels of unhealthy behaviour such as alcohol use and smoking, and more depression and anxiety.

According to the lead researcher, Hui Zheng from The Ohio State University, the results suggest the likelihood of higher levels of diseases and more deaths in younger generations than seen in the past.

“The worsening health profiles we found in Gen X and Gen Y is alarming,” Zheng said.
