Delhi’s cloud-based health project likely to be out by March next year: CM

Under one of the most ambitious health projects of the Delhi government, health cards will be issued in the names of all the residents of Delhi, for which special surveys will be conducted by the government. This will ensure the availability of the benefits of the government healthcare services to every resident of Delhi. Post the issuing, the e-health card will be integrated with the HIMS.

The system seeks to target the healthcare delivery process. All the patient care services, hospital administration, budgeting and planning, supply chain management, and backend services and processes will be brought under the system.

People in states with high PM2.5 levels more likely to get COVID-19: Study

Sixteen major cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Pune, Ahmedabad, Varanasi, Lucknow and Surat, reported the highest number of COVID-19 cases, and PM2.5 emissions are also higher in these areas due to fossil fuel-based anthropogenic activities, it said.

PM2.5 refers to fine particles which penetrate deep into the body and fuel inflammation in the lungs and respiratory tract, leading to the risk of having cardiovascular and respiratory problems, including a weak immune system.

AI pilots body seeks compensation to family of pilot succumbing to Covid infection

Stating that in the current pandemic situation, the government has announced an ex-gratia cover of Rs 50 lakh for any frontline worker who contracted Covid 19 and succumbed to it under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package, the Guild said, “however, none of the pilots’ families who have succumbed to Covid having contracted the same while operating the Vande Bharat or Air Bubble flights have been so compensated.”
According to the Guild, major airlines in India are providing compensation to their pilots up to Rs 5 crore while some companies have fixed the insurance cover equivalent to the wages of what the employee would have earned till the date of his superannuation.

The report noted that innovative measures currently being tried in India like establishing satellite vaccination centres closer to hamlets in rural settings and resident welfare associations in urban areas; converting community halls and using large parking spaces for drive-in vaccination; and using mobile vaccination facilities to cover populations that do not live within easy access of vaccination centres.

Final analysis of Covaxin efficacy out; vaccine 65.2 percent effective against Delta variant

Delta variant spread in US prompts reconsideration of precautions: Dr Fauci

“The Delta variant has the capability of spreading much more efficiently from person to person. It also can cause more severe disease. So there are two things about it that are troublesome,” said the top US COVID-19 expert.

Fauci further said that the good news is that COVID-19 vaccines have shown to be very effective against the strain and urged those who have yet to be vaccinated to do so.
