Mastercard and American India Foundation (AIF) launch first portable hospital in Jalna

Prof. K. VijayRaghavan, Principal Scientific Adviser, Government of India, said, “Rapidly developing and implementing surge-capacity in our health-care system is an important ongoing effort all over the country. Government efforts are supplemented by partnership with industry and NGOs with an aim to refurbish existing hospital infrastructure to improve critical care. These include facilitating state governments’ systems in a manner uniquely required of them. The initiative by Mastercard and AIF is one such where a few hospitals are being launched and/or commence their functions this month. Keeping up the momentum, learning from these experiences, will be important to accomplish the goals of all such partnerships.”

FPIs pull out net Rs 6,105 cr from Indian capital mkts so far this fiscal

FPI pulled out net investments worth Rs 11,308 crore from Indian equities in July.the outflow comes after net FPI investment in June stood at Rs 17,215 crore.

Forecasters who predicted India’s coronavirus peak see new wave coming

The country may see a worsening of its outbreak as soon as this month, with the next wave peaking in the best-case scenario with less than 100,000 infections a day, or nearly 150,000 in the worst scenario, according to estimates by researchers led by Mathukumalli Vidyasagar and Manindra Agrawal at Indian Institute of Technology in Hyderabad and Kanpur respectively.

States with high Covid rates, such as Kerala and Maharashtra, could “skew the picture,” Vidyasagar told Bloomberg in an email.

Myanmar has the highest coronavirus mortality rate in Southeast Asia

During the medical treatment, Sheela, in her petition, a copy accessed by ANI, filed before the Supreme Court, claimed that she has already spent more than Rs 1 crore in the medical treatment of Manish. She, however, also made it clear that she is in the process of mobilising further resources for his treatment.

Sheela sought an order from the Supreme Court thereby directing the officials of the Union of India (UOI) and other appropriate authorities–PM Cares Fund, PM Relief Fund, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, and others — to consider and release the requisite funds in terms of the estimated cost, as has been demanded by the hospital, where Manish is being treated for COVID-19.

Delta variant produces similar viral loads in vaccinated, unvaccinated: CDC

The study demonstrated that Delta infection resulted in similarly high SARS-CoV-2 viral loads in vaccinated and unvaccinated people, said CDC Director Rochelle Walensky.

“High viral loads suggest an increased risk of transmission and raised concern that, unlike with other variants, vaccinated people infected with Delta can transmit the virus,” she said.

First Zika virus case found in Maharashtra, officials say no need to panic

State surveillance officer Dr Pradip Awate told PTI that there was no need to panic.

”Zika is a moderate disease as 80 per cent patients do not get any symptoms and remaining 20 per cent have moderate flu-like symptoms. One can recover by drinking enough water, taking rest and having a simple paracetamol tablet,” he said.

Death due to Zika virus infection was unheard of, he added.
