For the January-December 2017 period, passenger vehicle sales rose 8.85 per cent to 32,29,109 units as compared with 29,66,603 units in 2016.Car sales rose 5.13 per cent to 21,68,151 units last year as compared with 20,62,357 units in 2016.

According to market analysts, the key reason for increasing FPI registrations is the continued interest in the Indian equities and bonds.

As per the RBI’s latest disclosure in this regard, people had returned Rs 15.28 lakh crore as on June 30, 2017, of the Rs 15.44 lakh crore banned currency, or 98.96 per cent, of the scrapped notes to the banking system.

Cross-border M&A sales, however, rose from $ 8 billion to $ 23 billion driven by a few large deals in extractive and technology related industries.

The report that covers 99.7 per cent of the world’s population and uses 23 qualitative and quantitative indicators grouped into three key domains — ongoing conflict, safety and security, and militarisation, noted that “the world is less peaceful today than at any time in the last decade”. 

This is the steepest outflow from the capital market since November 2016, when FPIs had pulled out Rs 39,396 crore. 

The Aviation Ministry is targeting a five-fold increase in passenger trips to one billion per annum in 15-20 years. The civil aviation sector will also see the addition of 1,000 aircraft in the Indian skies in the coming decade from about 55o aircraft today
