IRDAI suspends E-Meditek Insurance TPA’s license without notice
The violations observed in the inspection of the IRDAI against the E-Meditek TPA are of such serious nature that it is detrimental to the interests of policy holders and the insurers and allowing E-Meditek to continue their activities as TPA shall have adverse impact on the policyholders and insurers, said IRDAI order.signed by the IRDAI member(Non-lIfe) PJ Joseph
New India Assurance launches global mediclaim policy
New India Assurance (NIA) launched a global mediclaim policy to cover treatments like cancer, neuro-surgery, heart surgery, organ transplant and bone marrow transplant in hospitals only outside India. For this, the insurer had tied up with 99 hospitals worldwide including Cedar-Sinai Medical center, John Hopkins and King’s College hospital
Irdai asks insurers not reject claims on grounds of genetic disorder
Observing that the availing of health insurance was an integral part of the Right to Health and healthcare under the Constitution, Justice Pratibha Maninder Singh had held that the clause in the insurance policy excluding a person with “genetic disorder” from availing its benefit was “discriminatory” and contrary to public policy.
