Permanent solution needed to prevent recurring floods in Maha: CM

Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said the MVA government will come up with a ”holistic long-term plan” for all the flood-affected districts such as Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur, Raigad, Sindhudurg, and Ratnagiri to ensure the construction of roads, bridges etc.

He also said the state government will review the reports submitted by all the committees set up earlier, including of the Vadnere committee, to recommend measures to avoid floods.

Noting that if any organization wants to help persons in their treatment, education or for any other work, they will be able to give an eRUPI voucher instead of cash, he said it will ensure that the money given is used for the work for which the amount was given. Relying on the National Mental Health Survey of India 2015-16, Devina Singh, who has filed a PIL IN Delhi High Court, has contended that children and adolescents are vulnerable to mental disorders and the healthcare system does not prioritize mental health.

Singh has claimed that stress, fear, depression, insomnia, disconnectedness, and lack of self-confidence, are the issues widely prevalent among students but left unattended.

The report, by a 35-member panel formed last month by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, “will address both the short-term financial risks that may be associated with the transition to a low carbon economy, as well as the current and future market and financial risks associated with the physical risks that will arise from a warming climate,” Bob Litterman, a partner at hedge fund Kepos Capital and the panel’s chair, said at a public meeting held at the CFTC’s Washington headquarters.
