Maha govt announces Rs 11,500-crore package for aid to flood victims, repair works
A sum of Rs 7,000 crore has been earmarked for undertaking long-term measures to minimise impact of future floods, said the statement.
The financial assistance would include Rs 5,000 to every family affected by floods. The state government has relaxed the previous condition of houses being underwater for 48 hours to qualify for compensation, it said.
Similarly, totally damaged houses will get financial assistance Rs 1,50,000 per home, while houses with minimum damage of 50 per cent will get Rs 50,000, the statement said.
Partially damaged houses will get Rs 25,000 per home, the statement said.

Stating that fresh Covid cases are being reported from limited areas, Agrawal said that last week Kerala reported 40.95 per cent of total caseloads in India, followed by Maharashtra (19.43 per cent) and Karnataka (5.94 per cent).
Analysing the district-wise Covid data, Agrawal said that in total, 279 districts reported over 100 cases in the first week of June. However, after one month, such districts’ numbers were confined to 107 and currently only 57 districts are reporting over 100 cases.
A total of 18 districts across the nation have showed the increasing tendency on Covid trajectory from last four weeks, he added.

In August, monsoon rains are likely to be “below normal to normal” in the central region, Mohapatra said, where soybean and cotton are grown.
Farmers generally start planting rice, corn, cotton, soybeans, sugarcane and peanuts, among other crops, from June 1, when monsoon rains typically arrive in India. Sowing usually lasts until July or early August.
Indian farmers have planted summer-sown crops on 84.8 million hectares, down 4.7% year-on-year, according to the latest data from the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare.
