No blanket permission given for surveillance under NETRA, NATGRID: Centre To HC

The ASG told the court that the permissions are only given in cases that affect the sovereignty and integrity of India, defense of the country, security of the State, friendly relations with foreign States, public order, etc.The affidavit further states that the standard operating procedure (SOP) for carrying out surveillance mandates that permission for the same shall be sought only if the information required cannot be acquired by any other reasonable means.

High levels of toxic heavy metals found in some baby food – U.S. report

Representative Raja Krishnamoorthi, a Democrat who chairs the panel that released the report, said it found “these manufacturers knowingly sell baby food containing high levels of toxic heavy metals … It’s time that we develop much better standards for the sake of future generations.” A Food and Drug Administration (FDA) spokesman said the agency was reviewing the report.

DPIIT ‘definitely’ working on new e-commerce policy: Govt official

“Who should be accountable for counterfeit products sold through an e-commerce company. Data is an important issue. The entire data issue will be governed by what actually the data law will be, which is before Parliament. That is why we are not in a hurry to finalise it (the policy)… So, whatever will be the final outcome of that data bill, it will apply to everybody who will deal with data,” the official said a regulator for the sector may come if required.

Another ship in rough Pacific Ocean spills containers overboard

Forty-one empty containers fell from the ship around Jan. 29, according to a website notice from marine-claims consultancy W.K. Webster, which said it has nominated a surveyor to investigate the extent of damage.​

​The incident is at least the second time this year, and the third time in less than 10 weeks, that a notable number of containers have fallen into the Pacific while ships ply the busy trade lane.
