Percentage of uninsured vehicles rises to 57% in 2018-19, Kerala corners the highest average in motor death claims

Maharashtra is the leading state in terms of total premiums collected from Motor business, followed by Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh,Karnataka, Gujarat and Kerala.

The bulk of the uninsured vehicles are Two Wheelers with the un-insurance being as high as 66%.

For the financial year 2018-19, total death claims on account of motor insurance paid by the domestic general insurers was Rs. 9,01,207 and for Injury claims it was Rs. 2,51,094 which showed an increase over FY 2017-18.

Provide more safety data on COVID-19 vaccines: CDSCO expert panel to Serum Institute, Bharat Biotech

“Serum Institute of India has been asked for an updated safety data of phase 2 and 3 clinical trial in the country and immunogenicity data from the clinical trial in the United Kingdom and India. While considering the application of Bharat Biotech company, the SEC after detailed evaluation recommended that the pharma major should submit the safety and efficacy data from its ongoing phase 3 clinical trial in India for more analysis,” a source said.

The application submitted by the Pfizer was not discussed at the SEC meeting as the company has requested for more time for giving its presentation, sources said.

India could authorise COVID-19 vaccines in weeks, 300 million on priority list

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government has identified 300 million people, including healthcare workers, policemen, and citizens above the age of 50, who would be administered a vaccine on a priority basis, health secretary Rajesh Bhushan said.

“Every single Indian who needs to be vaccinated, will be vaccinated,” Bhushan said, adding that the government expected the vaccination process to take over a year to complete.

India’s COVID-19 caseload rises to 97.35 lakh; recoveries cross 92 lakh

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 92,15,581, pushing the national recovery rate to 94.66 per cent, while the COVID-19 case fatality rate stood at 1.45 per cent.

There are 3,78,909 active coronavirus infections in the country now which comprises 3.89 per cent of the total caseload, the data stated.
The COVID-19 active caseload remained below four lakh for the third consecutive day.

India’s Covid-19 tally hits 9.7-million mark as it reports 26,567 new cases

Till now 91,78,946 have recovered, while there are 3,83,866 active cases.

The recovery rate stands at 94.59 per cent, and the fatality rate is 1.45 as per cent.

Maharashtra continues to be the worst-hit state with 18,55,341 cases till date. Over 70 per cent of the daily new cases were reported by 10 states and UT — Maharashtra, Delhi, West Bengal, Haryana, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh.
