COVID-19: India records 13,052 new cases, 127 fatalities

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 1,04,23,125. The COVID-19 case fatality rate stands at 1.44 per cent.

The total COVID-19 active cases remained below 2 lakh for the 12th consecutive day.

There are 1,68,784 active cases of coronavirus infections in the country which comprises 1.57 per cent of the total caseload, the data stated.

India proposes law to ban cryptocurrencies, create official digital currency

The law will “create a facilitative framework for creation of the official digital currency to be issued by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI),” said the agenda, published on the lower house website on Friday.

The legislation, listed for debate in the current parliamentary session, seeks “to prohibit all private cryptocurrencies in India, however, it allows for certain exceptions to promote the underlying technology of cryptocurrency and its uses,” the agenda said.

McAfee Corp. on Wednesday announced findings from its’2021 Consumer Security Mindset Report’, revealing that while the shift to a digital-first life was brought on by the global pandemic, Indian consumers have shown an increased online footprint.

Activities like online banking(68 per cent), financial planning (55), and personal shopping (63) were at the top of the list.

This product would likely have scored even higher had there not been disputes around whether insurers should pay out on COVID-19-related claims.”
